Madeira has unique traditions at Christmas.
And it's in this Christmas spirit that the PortoBay hotels welcome their guests with lights, cribs, the traditional Madeira nativity scene or "lapinha madeirense" and the decorations that are part and parcel of this season.
An intensive programme has also been created with afternoon teas, culinary demonstrations and workshops, floral arrangements, special dinners and live music every night. Visits to ‘Childbirth Mass’ (a Madeira tradition) and guided tours of the decorations in Funchal have also been arranged.
