Special Safety Measures at Madeira

Madeira island has implemented special safety measures. The measures implemented in Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve do not apply to the island of Madeira.
- SARS-CoV-2 test
Presentation on arrival at Madeira Airport of a SARS-CoV-2 test (PCR) with a negative result, provided that it is carried out within a maximum period of 72 hours prior to boarding, or carrying out, for free, the respective test on arrival at Madeira Airport. The result of this test will be made available within around 12 hours. The Madeira Health Authority recommends that you wait for your test result in confinement in your hotel room. - Green corridor
Passengers who present a medical document certifying that they are recovered from COVID-19 disease upon disembarkation in Madeira (issued in the last 90 days), or that present a document certifying that they are vaccinated against Covid-19, are not required to do this test. Learn more here.
- Mandatory use of mask outside and inside
From 6 years of age, except: disabled people (due to difficulty in putting on / removing the mask without assistance); sports practice (physical activity and / or leisure that involves physical effort, recreational sports activities in forest areas and recommended walking routes; beaches, bathing areas and complexes and access to the sea;
- Prohibition of circulation on public roads
From Monday to Friday between 7 pm and 5 am and on weekends and holidays between 6 pm and 5 am. With the exception of certain situations, namely travel for health reasons, travel to the airport for passengers to board and disembark.
- Trade and Services close at 6 pm on weekdays and at 5 pm on weekends and holidays
The exception to this measure are: pharmacies, clinics, doctors' offices and petrol stations (only for vehicles fuel supply).
- Restaurants and bars close at 6 pm on weekdays and 5 pm on weekends and holidays
The restaurants and bars of the hotels remain open to guests at the the established schedule.
