Measures Lisbon, Porto & Algarve

Measures Lisbon, Porto & Algarve

(Updated July 9)

General measures:

The Portuguese government has been taking all necessary public health measures to protect the entire population. The analysis of the evolution of the outbreak is constant and implementation of new measures will be carried out whenever necessary. General behavior guidelines were enacted, in which all people must adopt the following rules:

- Social distancing;
- Frequent hand washing;
- Mandatory use of mask;
- Respiratory etiquette.

We highlight the most relevant measures for your stay at our hotels:
(These measures do not apply to the Portuguese islands. See here measures implemented on Madeira island.)

LISBON, PORTO & ALGARVE (Albufeira):

- Limitation of circulation on public roads from 23:00.

- Obligation to present the European Union COVID Digital Certificate or negative test (PCR, antigen, or self-test*) at the check-in. PortoBay hotels offer free self-tests to their guests, if necessary. This measure does not apply to children under 12 years of age.

PortoBay hotels offer free self-tests to their guests, if necessary. This measure does not apply to children under 12 years of age.
- Restaurants are open until 22:30.

- On Fridays from 7:00 pm, at the weekend and on public holidays, the operation of a meal service inside the restaurants, for customers not staying at the hotel, is only allowed upon presentation of the COVID Digital Certificate from the European Union or negative test (PCR, antigen or self-test*). If the meal is eaten on the terrace, this rule does not apply. Circulation inside the restaurant is allowed with the use of a mask. This rule does not apply to hotel guests as they have already presented these documents upon arrival.

- In restaurants and bars there is a limitation on the number of people per table: maximum 4 people per table inside and 6 people per table on the terrace.

In response to the current pandemic, PortoBay developed the hygiene and safety protocol 'Together We Care', which implements a set of measures following the guidelines of WHO and national and regional health authorities. Learn more here.
