From 30 April to 25 May, the Madeira island celebrates the Flower Festival. This year’s main highlight is the organisation of two major allegorical parades, taking place on 3 and 17 May. The parades feature floats decorated with natural flowers, performers in themed costumes and musical entertainment.
For classic car enthusiasts, the Madeira Flower Classic Auto Parade, on 10 May, showcases a range of iconic marques, with vehicles adorned with flowers, creating a unique spectacle.
In addition to the parades, the programme includes a variety of activities. On 2 May, thousands of children gather at Praça do Município to build the “Wall of Hope”, each placing a flower. The initiative ends with the traditional release of doves as a symbol of peace.
Throughout Funchal, visitors can admire floral carpets, flower exhibitions and enjoy musical performances.
The Flower Festival is one of the island’s main tourist events and an invitation to discover Madeira at one of its most beautiful times of the year!
